by:Anthony J Trimboli- EDITORIAL- I am a writer of your on line paper concerning Queens, New York and wish to share my thoughts on such an interesting experience I had recently at a park called Capt Fajardo Park on Kissena Blvd and Booth Memorial Avenue today. As you know, New York City has lots of torn down cable wires that are throughout the areas. On Saturday, again,I had to call FDNY concerning cable wires blocking a sidewalk in Howard Beach, New York which also is used to get to the New York City Subways.
I had to dial FDNY again today in Flushing, New York about two or three blocks away from Queens College today at a Capt Fajardo Park on Booth Memorial Avenue and Kissena Blvd, suspecting a loose, old, and cut wire from a pole by an entrance to the park almost hit me in the face and head today. The FDNY operator on the call alarm system applauded me because he liked how I valued safety especially when an electric wire almost hitting you in the face and head could lead to serious injury or death. He did not think it was a falling or miscut wire, though.
The FDNY eventually came and I spoke with them and it turned out, fortunately, that the call alarm system operator with the FDNY was correct. It was merely a cord or rope or something like that. It was fortunately not an electrical wire that was not cut properly and was left hanging by one of the poles in the park and was swaying in the wind and the wind almost made it blew in my face and hit my head.
Dangerous situations like this really do occur. The call alarm box operator of the FDNY really applauded me today in Flushing, New York for having a value and concern, especially if serious injury or death is involved. Being almost hit by an electrical cord, I guess, made him feel was really dangerous.
It was not an electrical cord after all, was the determination of the FDNY today. Apparently, people are leaving cable wires blocking the streets and sidewalks and FDNY has made calls to the cable companies. These are cable television wires.
A happy story today in Flushing. I am a contributor that just wants to share this with you.
