by:Anthony J Trimboli- Queens, NY- Many people think that the Long Island Expressway and Long Island terminates in Riverhead, New York, but there is more than that. The LIRR up in Flushing, NY near Main Street goes way past Riverhead, New York and goes into some small towns that are past Riverhead, New York. The towns that the LIRR up in Flushing, NY goes to past Riverhead, New York are called Southold and are villages like Cutchogue, Southold, Fishers Island.

Everybody believes that Riverhead, New York is the end of Long Island, but it is more the end of the Long Island Expressway. The LIRR goes way further in past Riverhead, New York to towns that are after all the shopping in Riverhead, New York.

Certain areas out there past Riverhead, New York on the LIRR that begins in Flushing, NY have extensive wineries and there are lots of places out there such as vineyards to buy wines right off the farm. You also have many nice vegetable stands where you can buy ripe fruit and all of that straight off of the vine. You also have small malls in certain areas out there off of the LIRR where you can buy numerous things that are of import to you.

One striking part is that many people believe that Long Island, NY ends in Riverhead, NY where the Long Island Expressway terminates. It does not. The LIRR up in Flushing, NY if you take it all the way to the end, goes through many many small towns that are into very nice premium shopping and selling of wines and meats and fruit that are good.

Everybody, I would think, has a perception that Long Island ends in Riverhead by the signs that you see on the Long Island Expressway going to Riverhead, NY but the LIRR goes much further than that. You can see the LIRR up there in Flushing, NY off of Main Street and if you take it East, you will be shocked at how Long Island does not end in Riverhead, New York.

To get there, just take the LIRR up in Flushing, NY EAST around Main Street and Kissena Blvd and you will see how it takes you to these spots way past Riverhead, NY.
