HIGHWAY MOTORISTS IN QUEENS- USE THE HIGHWAY YELLOW BOXES IN EMERGENCIES TO GET HIGHWAY PATROL

by:Anthony J Trimboli- EDITORIAL- Did you ever experience problems from an accident on the highways in Queens or any other of the five boroughs of New York City??? Did you ever run over a beer bottle going into the highway or a tire going into the highway or even a used auto body part that fell off a car???

One may think of completely and totally pulling off the highway and using a regular call alarm box on one of the top streets or even using their cell phone to simply dial the regular NYPD on it via 911.

The NYPD Highway Patrol has new boxes that are on the sides of of the road almost every mile or so. Maybe less. They are wonderous futuristic and wonderous because if you are in an accident on the highways, you get to speak to an NYPD Highway Patrolman directly who can come right there to service you rather than having a non highway 911 operator just call somebody out if you use your cell or the boxes on the upper streets in red.

All you do with these new boxes is just pull over or keep your car at the scene or perhaps pull it over to let the traffic go on the parkway and use the phone in the yellow highway boxes with a blue sign on top of them. Just open the box, which is easy, it is made of plastic, and pick up the black phone inside of them, press the red button and talk and tell them the problem.

Unfortunately, a malfunctioning box in Briarwood, New York made me not communicate well with the operator but he heard me perfectly but I kind of did not really hear him when I almost slammed my car into an auto body part on the Van Wyck Expressway in Queens around Queens and Main Sts around Molloy High School area like that. I just picked up the box and spoke into it and just reported what happened because I could not hear him well but he heard me well and they had NYC Sanitation all around and I guess an NYPD car must have showed up up there. Again,I could not give clear info on my location because I could barely hear the NYPD Highway Officer.

These boxes are so futurisitic. The moment you press the black phone button, the red button goes on and you hear the machine and ariel up by the sundial start to go on. It goes like WOOSH and a machine is starting for you to connect to a fellow NYPD Highway Officer that is on the road with you close by. It is like a radio to communicate with them on.

The old FDNY call boxes in the areas are not bad, but they have been slow and sort of malfunction a little sometimes. For reasons like hoodlums, they also put them up too high. These boxes can be used by even the smallest of children on the sides of the road.

In the event of an accident on the highway, why don't you use one of these yellow boxes with the metal pole and the black phone inside and just speak directly to a NYPD Highway Patrolman rather than just dial 911 on your cell or go upstairs and use a red box with regular 911 also.

These new boxes are very good.
