by:Anthony J Trimboli- Queens, New York- Expect more snags and more congestion on parkways in New York City and Queens included with a new program by Mayor Bloomberg where New York City DOT has to now go out and fill an X amount of potholes on New York City roads in one month. It is like a contest or something.
New York City Dept of Transportation, although not the best in the industry, is under lots of stress with this pot hole filling operation that is spanning the five boroughs under Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg.
You ride down the parkways in Queens from the Grand Central Parkway to the Cross Island Parkway and see lanes blocked off galore with New York City DOT guys who look like they belong on a Broadway stage in a musical called "Clear the Potholes" if there was one. Too bad NYC DOT workers can not sing and dance as they are clearing the potholes ASAP and blocking traffic for miles on highways.
I can tell New York City Dept of Transportation and this new program with Mayor Michael R Bloomberg really will be successful but boroughs like Brooklyn really would be better at helping with this. If you ever travel down Brooklyn roads like Linden Blvd and areas like in East New York, Brooklyn bordering the Queens line, you will see busted roads that really really can do damage to your axel.
Once, I spoke to a police officer of the NYPD of the 75th Precinct on the A Train about the potholes and he could not believe the story I reported to government information the day before where my car almost lost control on Sutter Avenue and Euclid Avenue because of a fallen pothole. Originally, this officer of the 75th Precinct on Sutter Avenue right across the lines thought it was just a small pothole, but the tar that NYC DOT put down must have sunk down and he had no further comments and the story I told him about the community sort of stunned the NYPD officer about the road sinking in with new tar and me almost losing control of the car. The issue was bad that the local precinct over the lines in East New York, 75th sent out a policewoman in a car to check out the potholes and streets in the area and still the streets remain pothole filled out there in Brooklyn. Perhaps this should have been a program related to Brooklyn. That cop of the 75th Precinct seemed SHOCKED at what I experienced and so did somebody at 311.
Expect lots of busy busy busy NYC DOT workers coming up this month with a new program by Mayor Bloomberg that NYC DOT Commissioner Ms. Khan both shook hands on at City Hall about. There will be blocked off lanes and blocked off exits on parkways because a pothole needs to be cleared there this month.
Such a program should be aimed at Brooklyn in many ways.
