bY:Anthony J Trimboli Writer- Flushing, NEw York- If you travel the streets of Flushing around Queens College and Kissena Boulevard and the Long Island Expressway and the old National Wholesale Liquidators, you will see a STRIKING difference in ONE single thing in the area.

Compared to other Queens communities, this area of Flushing, especially around Queens College and Kissena Blvd has ALL NEW STREET LAMPS to light the streets!!!! You walk down the streets and see new street lamp on top of new street lamp.

It seems funny how this is like the only community in New York City almost and in Queens even more so that asked for all new street lamps all around the areas of Kissena Blvd and Queens College and a little bit south of there by a mall.

It is just so striking. The City of New York planned to keep these lamps that were put up in 1984 until a long time after.

But, this is a good move for the Community Board in the area being Community Board 8 on Hillside Avenue to put up new street lamps. We are totally different than Long Island but yesterday, I was out in an area of Jericho, New York at an intersection of Cantiague Road and Saratoga Drive by a school also and there was this HIDEOUSLY rusty sign of Saratoga Drive falling into the street almost there by the school. So, maybe Flushing and its community members are correct to ask to install new street lamps to illuminate Kissena Blvd around Queens College.

It is one of the few areas around Queens and even New York City that has ALL new street lamps up.
