by:Anthony J Trimboli- Queens, New York- The total amount of people heading out of areas of New York City from other boroughs like Queens, Brooklyn, and Long Island is almost ridiculous at this time. If you look at Queens as a whole, you can see how it as a borough and other areas like Brooklyn and Nassau and Suffolk Counties, New York are almost barren each day.
I live out here in Howard Beach, Queens, New York which is by the A Train of the New York City Subways and each morning until about 12 noon, it is like a cattle call to get to Manhattan on the trains. You have overcrowded subways and subways that are falling apart like you would not believe and people all on these subways heading into Manhattan and not returning until like 9 PM at night.
The people at New York City Transit tell me to not be concerned about any problems here of overcrowding on the trains and question why I am questioning this since they have forever been used to people traveling to Manhattan around the clock as it is right now. This excusion of people leaving Queens, Long Island, and Brooklyn daily is almost remarkable. You see people forever overcrowding the trains daily going to Manhattan. New York City Transit says this is natural of New York City to have people flock to Manhattan like this.
I live here in Howard Beach, Queens and as funny as it sounds, once the bull rush leaves, and the siren is sounded, you have only me and MOSTLY old classmates of mine who I went to school around the times with around with some storeowners who love the area.
Some young others my age who like Howard Beach a whole lot tell me that the area is very nice and many people see things in Howard Beach and perhaps other areas that maybe other areas would not have. I agree with them on the element.
The storeowners that remain in Howard Beach are mostly just the older storeowners who are around to watch their store and maybe take a sense of pride in their community.
Perhaps the most shocking is that the young people my age who stay around had good times growing up here in Howard Beach and other areas of Queens at schools and choose to remain here because of various other elements. I agree with them on that because I had very good times at school around here and Brooklyn also, more around here funny enough. This is why LOTS of young kids my age that I went to school with tend to stay around here because of good memories in the past and they honestly seem to lead the pack of people who remain around here. A GOOD amount of them still leave though like all these others. But, the majority around here seem to be young people who I grew up with.
Certain areas of New York City may have to look into this problem with a constant flock of people just leaving the areas and heading to one borough. Apparently, New York City Transit says this has been going on for a while now and is nothing new to them, but I see more and more now.
Again, Manhattan appears to be a hot borough recently.
