by:Anthony J Trimboli- Howard Beach, New York- It seems that New York City has lots of activity going on inside of it recently. The city services are especially busy at the time and it may take about 45 days for you to get something done.
Yesterday, glass on the road was reported to 311 of New York City which is a citywide governmental agency service which gives you access to appropriate government services around New York City. When you call them, they will get the NYC Dept of Sanitation to put people there to clean up the glass that was reported that had already been swept by a neighbor but is now sort of circulating into the street because of car traffic.
Calling 311 is not a hassle, it can be very professional in nature. But things are very busy at the time and it may take about 35 minutes to fill a city service. Now, this glass was reported already and swept by the neighbor on 161 Avenue and 97 Street in Howard Beach, New York and may not be picked up until about forty five days because of the business of 311 and New York City Sanitation itself. This means that you can not even stop a Sanitation truck and just tell them about the glass problem and have them sent over there.
It also is shocking to me how many quasai public agencies like Welsbach Electric, who does the lamps and signals for New York City RELY on 311 and just ignore any calls you give to them. Once, people were calling them about traffic lamps malfunctioning personally and the response was putrid where they told the public that they have to dial 311 when there is a traffic signal repair specialist there already.
It really is ridiculous when your government services are as fouled up as this where they are congested and if you deal with them personally, they REFUSE the call completely as many neighbors have complained about Welsbach Electric who repairs the city signals and street lamps. They even have YOU having now to RE REPORT the problem again like they forgot what you told them.
New York City is overcrowded at this time, but to take 45 days for glass to be cleaned up off the street that a neighbor swept and is now being pushed into the street on 161 Avenue and 97 Street is ridiculous. You have 311 which is there and can provide you SAME DAY service, but if the organization is busy, they can not help you in the least bit and have to say it has to be done in like forty five days or something like that.
Overcrowding in New York City seems to be a popular topic at this time. It may take about 45 days to clean up this glass on 161 Avenue and 97 Street in Howard Beach that was swept up and is now spreading into the street.
