by:Anthony J Trimboli- Long Island City, NY- Some very necessary New York City Transit construction is being done on the 7 Train elevated overpass out on Queens Boulevard from Woodside, New York like Roosevelt Avenue to the Manhattan-Queens border by the East River.
As I mentioned once before in an article, it seems like the A Train and its stops seem to be the WORST when it comes to maintenance especially when you head out to the Rockaways using the A Train. The stations on the A Train are decrepit and old and New York City Transit thinks that ALL of their stations are maintained that way.
Well. on the 7 Train elevated overpass, they are doing construction currently involving the below portion of the 7 Train overpass where they are trying to remove the highly rusted areas that are below the 7 Train. As you know, some stations and their overpasses have not been done over again since like 1992 or 1989 like that. Again, if the A Train Station supervisors do not want to maintain their stations on their line, it is to their disadvantage. Many station lines like the J and 7 Trains seem to be checking out and maintaining their overpasses right now. I am sure they will also start repainting the overpasses and will start just removing all the old rust from the overpasses.
I think it is great that people are coming out to refurbish and re paint and re do a job to a NYC Subway overpass that was done last like in 1987 or 1992 or something like that. These overpasses need new paint and need to be basically checked and I see this on the 7 Line and the J Line. The A Train is not being fixed at this moment and its stations are in really bad shape; I believe the last time the A Train stations were fixed up also was like 1986 or something.
I am glad that the New York City Transit people are finally going to fix up the overhead lines on the 7 Train and it seems like the J Train since 7 was done last in 1987 or 1992 and J was done around 1991 or something like that. I am glad that they are going to start inspecting the rust and the old underneath portion because it is necessary at this time.
