by:Anthony J Trimboli- Ozone Park, New York- Today an old maple tree fell and slammed into a telephone pole by a bus route in Ozone Park, New York. The tree was very old and it was in front of a Little League in Ozone Park.
The tree was dead and was splitting at the bottom and middle. It must have collapsed from the little league property into the telephone pole.
Since the tree was very small, it did not do any damage to the telephone pole on the bus route around the little league and a little gas station that is around these areas. The pole stood strong and stayed up.
According to New York City and 311 the tree may just need a removal. There is no real safety issue according to 311 if a tree just falls into a pole and the pole stands high and strong. 311 will send a parks examiner and parks crew there to make sure the tree is removed and will not eventually interfere with bus travel in the area.
The tree was inspected and apparently died. It was in the lot in front of the Ozone Howard Little League in Ozone Park. We all are grateful that no damage was done to the pole in the bus stop. The pole stood strong.
311 says an inspector will be there in four days approximately or shorter to the area to remove the dead tree from the front yard of the Ozone Howard Little League.
