by:Anthony J Trimboli- Elmhurst/Rego Park, New York- If you saw the streets of Elmhurst, New York on Thursday night at about 6 PM, you would think everybody has some old Christmas gift to be returned back to the JC Penney at Queens Center Mall.
The lines were half way out the door of the JC Penney at Queens Center Mall, you had people even lining up all the way down to the athletic field for Newtown High School across the street. The line was that long.
Besides the people going into the mall, the streets were horrible. Two buses blocked a car off and the car and two buses were locked in the intersection because of the overcrowding in numerous intersections around Queens Center Mall and that JC Penney.
In speaking to the local station house about gridlock in the area, An officer of the 110th Precinct in Elmhurst, New York said that he noticed all the traffic and cars around there and sent a police car around the mall to look. He was funny and told me not to go into the mall and just keep on driving another direction.
It was surreal looking how the people were all lined up outside of JC Penney to do something inside of the mall. It was like they were going to return the gifts a month late or had to do so. This never was spotted before by Queens Center Mall at 6 PM.
Most people I think would agree with the officer of the 110th Precicnt of Elmhurst, New York in saying just stay in your car. Tons of gridlock and tons of congestion even with people outside of this JC Penney at 6 PM out here in Elmhurst.
