by:Anthony J Trimboli Writer- Ozone Park, New York- I am a resident of Howard Beach, New York and the bordering town to Howard Beach is Ozone Park. I could not believe what I saw on my way on the Q11 bus today as I was riding on the bus to get to a location in Manhattan.

This tree which looks like it has not been examined by the property owner or was an old cut tree finally died today on Centreville Street in the front yard by the parking lot of the Ozone Howard Little League.

I speak to 311 about some of these businesses in the area which create things like this and thank goodness it is winter. The 311 operator mentioned this to me. As you know, baseball is not played in the winter. She started to get angered at how the Ozone Howard Little League did not inspect the tree of have a groundsman come out who would be cleaning the front yard of the Little League to check the tree, but it is winter or me and her and another man who usually walks in that area would have been a little bit angered by the tree blocking the sidewalk and falling into the telephone pole.

The tree was dead as hell!!! You could see it splitting with old maple sap on it that was old and decaying and it somehow finally broke at the bottom and toppled right into the tree on Centreville St by the Little League. Little League is NOT in session no and no damage was done to the pole on the bus route where I travel. I could not believe the deadness of this tree in the front yard of the Ozone Howard Little League. It was dead and dead and must have just stood there until the base cracked today or last night.

I am glad all is OK with the pole that it will not block the bus route. 311 says they will get somebody there within four days and I think the tree is gone since NYC Parks must have taken it.

I could not believe the deadness of this tree. It was like a really dead tree. I guess Ozone Howard LL just kept it up front there and did not really examine it any more. The lower part of it finally broke and fell into the telephone pole, blocking the sidewalk and not doing any damage to the tree fortunately.
