QUEENS, NY- LITTERING ON THE EDGE OF PLATFORMS

17 June 2009, 5:05 am

by:Anthony J Trimboli- The problem of littering at the very edge of the NYC Subway platforms seems to have decreased a whole lot in the last week. One of the most dangerous littering problems on the NYC Subway platforms is that the litter tends to be right on the edge of where the tracks are of NYC Subway platforms.

The litter is something you can roll on or something you can really fall onto the platform or tracks over. It is like a Snapple bottle at the bottom of the stairs or something on the NYC Subway platforms.

It is shocking how in the last week or so the littering on the NYC Subway platforms has died down from litter being at the bottom of the stairs to by the edge of the platform on the NYC Subways and all of that.

In today's times, you do not know if trains can stop in time, too. Trains often speed in the tunnels under pressure to make time and the motormen do not appear to really come into the stations slowly downstairs there.

It is a good sign how littering downstairs there seems to have stopped to a degree where there is less to no litter by the edge of the platform or even in bad areas like the stairs or any place like that.

In New York City, NY and the NYC Subways, the NYC Police Dept does not accept complaints about litter on the stairs. You have to report it to a clerk on the nYC Subways or NYCT Customer Service at 1-718-330-3322. The NYPD does not accept complaints about litter on the NYC Subways since the NYPD is not the MTA.
