HOWARD BEACH, NEW YORK- "98-16"- JUST SAVED THIS HOME FROM GETTING A SUMMONSE FOR ICE AT NIGHT

by:Anthony J Trimboli- EDITORIAL- Howard Beach, New York- I am a 29 year old young man writing to express my thoughts on how I think here in Queens, New York City, New York I just saved a local house around the block from getting a summonse by NYC Sanitation or by the NYC Police Department.

I was coming home after a late meeting with a society in Manhattan on the bus and trains and almost almost took a bad fall in front of their house because the ice in front of their house had frozen at night. It was like slush that had frozen over into ice at night and I almost took a bad fall.

If you deal with agencies around New York City, like NYC Sanitation and the NYC Police Department, it may be part of their job, but do you know, if I reported this to them via 911 or the call box right there or took a bad fall in the night over the ice that had frozen from water or slush in front of the house, do you know that if I shared this with NYC Sanitation or even the NYPD, they would give the family around the corner a summonse??

In today's times, you have to watch the civil service agencies you write to, especially agencies like NYC Sanitation. I learned that because I shared stories with them about unsafe conditions around New York City and my community, that, I, a writer for this paper, gave a total of SEVEN people in my area a summonse by NYC Sanitation or by the NYPD??? I was sickened by that!!!! I will never share my thoughts with the NYPD or NYC Sanitation again after hearing that.

I just do not know how I would feel if like I had to dial 911 tonight because I almost slipped in front of the home "98=16" around the corner and I got hurt and the NYPD came and they gave the family in this red house a summonse because the ice froze over at night and maybe they felt that somebody should be out there watching the ice late at night, like 9 PM to make sure nobody falls. I mean, what ridiculousness.

To stop the family from most likely being summonsed, I left them a note on stationary in their house and I told them that an ice patch had melted from slush in front of their house and I almost took a bad dive on it.

It is shocking how NYC agencies like NYC Sanitation and the NYPD thrive on giving out tickets, especially NYC Sanitation. But, I guess they are doing their job in giving out tickets to people this way.

I hope my note saved this family "98-16" from getting a summonse here. If i shared this with NYC Sanitation or with the NYPD, the family would get a summonse because they would expect somebody to be out there late night picking up the water turned to ice in front of the house. Wow.
